What is TradingView

TradingView is the charting platform I use to monitor opportunities in the markets. I mainly use tradingview for analyzing and marking up what I see on the charts. You can make a free account for now and decide later if you would like to purchase a subscriptions. Although the premium version is helpful, you can still go very far without it.

Setting Up TradingView

Lets get you started by first copying my settings. You are more than welcomed to customize your charts to your own liking but this is my personal set up. First, visit TradingView and hover over “Products” at the top of the screen. Then click on “supercharts”. From here, you should be on a chart. If you would like a dark mode version, click on your profile icon in the upper left-hand corner. Scroll down until you see “Dark Mode” and turn it on. To get to the settings, go ahead and click on the gear icon in the upper right hand corner right of the magnify glass icon. If you cannot find it, you can also right click anywhere on the charts and select “Settings…” at the very bottom of the pop up.

Chart Settings Symbol

You can add my custom colors by selecting the plus “+'“ button under the preset colors and inserting the pantone ID. The ID for my blue is #4c4d5f and the id for my red is #5c2932. If you want to change to color of the current price box on the right side of the chart you will have to select “last” and then change the color from there. I have it off because I do not want to see the line that shows where price is currently at but this setting does reflect the color on the right side. I recommend you to change the timezone to “(UTC-5) New York” since I also refer to eastern standard time. Depending on the time of year with daylights savings, it may show up as “(UTC-4) New York”. Once it is set, you will not have to change it again.

Chart Settings Trading

Everything can be unchecked here. This can be used for trading but we will check that out in another section.

Chart Settings Status Line

You can unselect everything from this tab. I have the title unchecked because I use an indicator that tells me this information. If you would like to use the indicator that I use, you can add it by SELECTING “Indicators” IN THE TOP MIDDLE OF YOUR SCREEN. fROM HERE, USE THE SEARCH BAR AND TYPE IN “ag fx - wATERMARK”. yOU SHOULD SEE THIS NAME UNDERNEATH “SCRIPT NAME”. Before SELECTING IT, YOU CAN CLICK THE STAR ICON TO SAVE IT TO YOUR FAVORITES. oNCE YOU SELECT IT, YOU SHOULD SEE IT ON YOUR CHART. iF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CUSTOMIZE IT, YOU CAN DOUBLE CLICK THE INDICATOR ON THE CHART AND IT WILL PULL UP THE SETTINGs.

Chart Settings Scales

Copy these settings. These settings are self explanatory.

Chart Settings Appearance

To get my background color, you will have to add a custom color with the pantone id #b5aba2 along side with the “Lines”. I have my “crosshair” set to black and the “text” set to #5c2932. If you would like to get rid of the grid in the background, you can turn the opacity down all the way to 0%.

Chart Settings Events

Everything can be unchecked here. This tab can be used for keeping an eye out for news events but we will use something else and cover it later in the course.

Premium Version

The paid version is not needed but it may help in the future. If you purchase it, I recommend to wait until Black Friday and purchase the annual subscription to save the most money.
